about this project
My graduation project at CBS focused on the geopolitical aspects of critical raw materials. These materials are essential for economic and technological development, but their supply is often concentrated in a few countries, leading to geopolitical tensions and dependencies. The aim of the project was to provide an in-depth understanding of the geopolitical dimensions of the trade and distribution of these materials, examining how their availability and control impact international relations and economic stability. The final product was a scrollytelling multimedia story that presented the complex information in a visually engaging and interactive manner. This included an introductory video that provided an overview of the topic and key issues, scrollytelling sections that allowed users to navigate through the narrative by scrolling, and various animations that clarified complex data and concepts, such as maps showing the geographic distribution of raw materials, trade flow graphs, and scenario analyses of geopolitical tensions. Additionally, infographics were used to present crucial statistics and facts, making it easier for the audience to grasp important points quickly. This multimedia story offered an innovative way to present the research findings, making the topic more accessible and comprehensible to a broad audience, including policymakers, academics, and the general public. By combining in-depth research with advanced multimedia techniques, my project effectively communicated the complexity of the geopolitical aspects of critical raw materials.
